Short Take: "Life Through a Lens" - the best short from the Rome International Film Festival

I was able to screen two dozen shorts at the Rome International Film Festival earlier this month. While  "Douglas," "HowardCantour.com," "In Our Hands," "Shoot the Moon" and "A Story of Our Hero (to 1910)" get special shout outs, the honor of best short film at RIFF goes to Ellenor Argyropoulos' "Life Through a Lens."

A quick look at Argyropoulos' Vimeo page tells us that she is an Australian film graduate student at the beautiful age of 21. I am so impressed! "Life Through a Lens" is absolutely stunning, flooded with character, even at a brisk 17 minute runtime. I want it to be a full-length feature with star Kath Gordon on screen for every second. Her eyes see right through your soul with 20/20 vision.

"Life Through a Lens" glows like it is projected onto a light-box. I struggle with what all I should say about it. I really just want everyone to be able to see it.

My RIFF coverage for this year is almost complete. Closing night film "Heathens and Thieves" will be my last film review. I will also post a short film roundup to discuss each of the two dozen shorts I screened. Wrapping up my Rome to-dos, I will share with you my personal list of superlatives; a best of the fest, if you will.
