2012 Rome International Film Festival preview

The 2012 Rome International Film Festival will kick off in four weeks, marking the festival's ninth run since it was founded in 2004. Located 70 miles northwest of Atlanta, Rome's scenic beauty is a perfect accompaniment for what MovieMaker Magazine called one of "20 film festivals worth the entrance fee." In fact, I would say it values a bit higher than the entrance fee. Tickets are only $6 per film block ($2 for students) or $25 for a day pass.

Michael Altman's "American Songwriter" isn't just a documentary, it's a musical journey across America set to the music of the multi-faceted Danny Darst. "American Songwriter" will screen at the Opening Night Gala at Swift & Finch. Both Altman and Darst will be in attendance. Clip

At it's heart, "Heathens and Thieves" is a quintessential western. Centered around the search for stolen gold, there is no lack of good guys, bad guys and gun fights. After screening and winning awards at festivals in California, Texas and New York, "Heathens and Thieves" comes to Rome as part of the Closing Night Gala at Historic Rose Hill Manor. Trailer
